Your voice is needed for Washington Wildlife by October 1!

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) is requesting public input to help determine considerations in managing "hunted wildlife" for 2009-2015. An online survey is available to express your opinion---one of the few opportunities the non-hunting public has to weigh in on how wildlife in the state is managed. Make sure WDFW hears the compassionate, pro-wildlife voices of Washington citizens.

Celebrate and share your compassionate lifestyle in October

October 1 marks the beginning of a delicious and fun month-long celebration of helping animals: World Vegetarian Day, founded by the North American Vegetarian Society (NAVS). In the Pacific Northwest, a region known for its top vegetarian cities, going veggie in October is as easy as eating, reading and sharing with your friends.

  1. Explore your neighborhood for veggie fare
    • Discover the great taste of animal-friendly food products at your local supermarket. There are a variety of brands with many different tastes to suite different people.
    • Join Vegetarians of Washington, the largest vegetarian organization in North America, to receive great discounts on vegetarian products and services, as well as attend their monthly dining events.
    • Stay up to date on Seattle's vegetarian dining possibilities at VegSeattle.com.
  2. Educate yourself on the benefits of a vegetarian diet
  3. Share the vegetarian experience with your friends
    • Coordinate a vegetarian or vegan pot luck, or invite your friends over to share in, and be amazed by, your own vegetarian feast.
    • Find vegetarian restaurants in your zip code and take a group of friends.

On behalf of the animals, thank you for making compassionate choices in your life.
