Help Bring Lolita Home!
Fundraiser, Sunday, August 8
It has been 34 years since Lolita the orca was captured in Penn Cove and transported to the Miami Seaquarium. For 34 years, in her small, silent tank, Lolita has wished for only one thing- to come home. Please join Orca Network Projects Sunday, August 8, for an afternoon sail and silent auction event to benefit the Free Lolita campaign. For more information visit the Orca Network web site www.orcanetwork.org/news/events.html

Stop the Deadliest Horse Race in the United States
Immediate Action Needed
The brutal Omak Suicide Race will take place August 12, 13, 14 and 15 in Omak, WA. In the twenty years that PAWS has been monitoring this event there have been 18 documented horse deaths, and undoubtedly more that occur in test runs before the official races, and after, due to injuries sustained during the run. The Omak Suicide Race forces horses, at the urging of their riders, to hurl themselves down a 210 foot, nearly vertical (62 degree angle) hill.

What you can do:
Let local goverment know that the citizens of and visitors to Washington State will not stand for deliberate abuse of animals and events such as the Suicide Race discourage tourism in all of Eastern Washington.
Write the Omak City Council www.omakcity.com/Government/citycouncil/omak_city_council.htm
Write the Okanogan County Commissioners www.okanogancounty.org/Commissioners/commissi.htm

AniCare and AniCare Child workshop
Saturday, August 21, 2004

The treatment of animal abusers has become an increasingly acknowledged necessity, and a growing number of states, including Washington, mandate court-enforced psychological counseling for convicted abusers. AniCare and AniCare Child were developed to address the unique difficulties involved in assessing and treating adult and juvenile animal abusers. To participate in the workshop or to find out more information please download the information and participation form (PDF).
