Urge King County and Federal Way to Investigate Case of Acid-burned Puppy

On March 10, a Federal Way resident found a four-month old puppy in her backyard suffering from acute acid burns over more than 80 percent of her body. The Good Samaritan brought the puppy to a vet clinic in Auburn for treatment where the puppy, named Mooie, had to be euthanized because of the severity and pain of her injuries. Read the stories on KOMO 4 TV, (WARNING: The footage of Mooie is disturbing) in the King County Journal, and in the Seattle Times.

If this were an accident, then the person who caused the accident and who did not immediately take Mooie in for care should be held accountable for neglect. If the act was intentional, then the person who tortured this innocent being should be punished to the fullest extent of the law, not only to protect other animals, but people as well. Many studies have shown that those who are violent toward animals rarely stop there and will likely graduate to violent acts toward people. Read more about the link between violence toward animals and people.

Please politely urge King County Animal Control and the Federal Way Police to properly, promptly and thoroughly investigate this animal cruelty, which is a felony in Washington State.

This is especially important if you are a King County or Federal Way resident. In your communication, insist that finding and prosecuting animal abusers is an important responsibility for these agencies, and an extremely high priority for you as a compassionate citizen and taxpayer. They should use all appropriate methods as law enforcement agencies to solve this heartbreaking case of cruelty. The perpetrator of this terrible act must be brought to justice.
