PAWS Magazine Issue 64: Summer 2006 PAWS Magazine Cover Photo

From the heart
Photo of PAWS Executive Director - Annette Laico Summer at PAWS means an abundance of animals, a busy events schedule, and the final push to complete our latest facility enhancement—a series of specially-designed pools for the care of oiled birds. If you are looking for a unique and rewarding way to help animals this summer, please consider PAWS! Opportunities range from volunteering with the Seattle Goose Program, representing PAWS at fun events like the Greenwood Seafair Parade, or helping with projects on campus. We also seek help for walking adoptable dogs, fostering kittens, and helping feed baby wild animals. And don’t forget the fifteenth annual PAWSwalk coming up on Saturday, September 9. We’d love you to join us, whether walking for the animals or helping out behind the scenes. At PAWS, there’s an opportunity to suit every schedule and there’s no surer way to feel connected to the animals. Please check out the "How to Help" section and events calendar at www.paws.org.

In the midst of all this activity, we are looking forward to the celebration of our 40th anniversary next year. Whether you are new to PAWS, or have been involved since the beginning, we’d love to hear from you about the milestones you remember, and your ideas for how we might mark this momentous occasion.

Enjoy your summer, and I hope to see you at PAWSwalk!

Annette Laico
Executive Director

P.S. As I drive around the region, I’m delighted to see so many new Washington State “We Love Our Pets” license plates. Sales of these plates help fund spay/ neuter programs across the state. Purchase your plate today!
