Paddle for PAWS: The Final Swim
Bob Donovan and Paul Zimmerman pose with PAWS' Executive Director, Annette Laico, after being presented with their certificates of appreciation for 10 years of Paddle for PAWS.
Bob Donovan (left) and Paul Zimmerman (right) are long time animal lovers and PAWS supporters. In 2000 they decided to raise funds for PAWS by taking pledges as they prepared to swim from Vashon Island to West Seattle. The route changed a couple of times over the years, but they kept on swimming. As Paul Zimmerman and Bob Donovan paddled to shore in 2009 during the 10th and final Paddle for PAWS event, they brought with them a grand total of over $25,000 raised and 70 miles in the water over the yearsan amazing feat for this dog-loving duo.
The day of the last swim was absolutely perfect for a celebratory gathering as PAWS’ friends and family cheered them to shore. Thank you to everyone who came out to show them support and to those of you who made donations.
PAWS would like to thank Paul and Bob for their fantastic support over the years and honor them with a kennel sponsorship in their name. We are incredibly grateful for all they have done for the animals in our care!
