The following organizations and resources are intended to help you in your quest to learn more about dealing with cases of animal abuse and neglect:

Animal Legal Defense Fund (ALDF) is a national non-profit organization of legal professionals working locally and nationally to defend animals from abuse and exploitation. Some of ALDF's activities include providing free legal assistance to prosecutors handling cruelty cases anywhere in the U.S., working to strengthen state anti-cruelty laws, and taking direct legal action to help ensure the enforcement of state and federal animal protection laws.

Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) offers educational resources for just about every companion animal issue that relates to behavior, health and responsible companion animal guardianship. HSUS has published reports about the link between animal violence and human violence, offers tips for taking action to address animal cruelty cases, tracks local ordinances and state legislation around the country that impact companion animals, and has information about other animal welfare issues as well.

American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) addresses a wide range of animal welfare issues, and suggests ideas for taking action in order to impact these issues, including tips for launching your own letter-writing campaign.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) also works on a multitude of animal rights issues, offering ideas for how you can help address animal cruelty.

Pet-Abuse.com is a website with updated animal abuse cases from around the United States. It also offers information on what citizens can do to help end animal abuse.
