Barney

I saw Barney at PAWS in Lynnwood, WA on January 31, 2002. Right from the moment I saw him, he captured my heart. My intent was to look for a dog for my twin sister as she was looking for dog for herself. But as soon as I looked into those big brown sad eyes, I just couldn't resist.

He has been a blessing for my husband and myself. We enjoy so much having him here. In the last three years my husband was sick with leukemia. With medications he was doing good. In October 2006, one night after I got home from work, my husband told me he was a little tired and was going to bed down stairs. That was around 8:00 p.m. Barney isn't the type of dog to make any commotion, he was so laid back and quiet.. But at around 3:00 a.m. he came into my room and woke me up by crying, running around to one side of the bed to the other and pulling on my sheets. He wouldn't stop until I got up to check and see what was wrong with him. I went downstairs to find my husband not breathing well enough to even talk. I got Harry to the hospital and he lived for three days. If it wasn't for Barney letting me know that I needed to get up, I wouldn't have even known that my husband was that sick.

I look at Barney and bless God for giving him to me. He's my best friend. We are leaving to move to Denver to live close to my family there (sons and grandchildren). I just wanted someone to know what a great dog I have and thank PAWS for giving him to me.

Love,
Carla Bower
