Volunteering Opportunities at PAWS

Marketing and Web Team

Position Description: Over 17,000 potential adopters per week look for their potential companions on the PAWS website. In order that the information on our site is up to date and accurate and to help place animals awaiting adoption, Web Team Members maintain the lists of animals available for adoption by uploading digital pictures taken of the animals at PAWS. They also write cute and descriptive blurbs about each animal to represent the animal\'s personality to the viewers on the web. This position has some animal contact. Volunteers must have good writing skills, computer skills and have a working knowledge of digital photography. They must also practice safe animal handling per PAWS protocols. Duties include: socializing, visiting, and comforting the animals; printing “disposition” reports from our Shelter database; posting animals on the website according to PAWS policies and procedures; uploading information from home or on a computer at PAWS; and cropping and adjusting pictures for optimal viewing. Marketing team members assist by distributing photoflyers of available animals, working with the public at outreach events, accompanying and transporting dogs to off-site adoption events, or any of the various marketing techniques we employ.
