Volunteering Opportunities at PAWS
Wildlife Care Assistant
Position Description: Duties include: cleaning cages, laundry, dishes, preparing food, assisting staff with medical care, preparing cages, sweeping, mopping, animal pick-ups, answering the telephone, admitting animals, building, painting and special cleaning projects.
In the spring and summer duties will also include hand-feeding young mammals and nestling songbirds.
Experienced volunteers are given the opportunity to learn advanced animal handling and medical skills, including gavage feeding, administering oral medication and giving subcutaneous injections of fluids.
Dates Available: Year round
Shifts: Shifts are the same every day.
Morning Shift: 8am - 1pm,
Afternoon Shift: 1pm - 6pm,
Evening Shift: 6pm - 10pm.
The evening shift is only available from April 1st through September 30th.
Time Commitment: Weekly
Location: PAWS Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, Lynnwood
Training Required: Basic Skills Workshop (3.5 hours)
Wildlife Ethics Workshop (3 hours)
