Public Affairs Internships
Position Title: Public Affairs Intern
Accountable to: Public Affairs Coordinator
Purpose of Position:
To assist the PAWS Public Affairs team on animal welfare campaigns as they relate to PAWS' mission, vision and values, through research, writing, online communication, evaluation and public outreach.
Responsibilities may include:
- Performing research online to assist in developing public messaging and targeting outreach opportunities for designated public affairs projects.
- Creating content for website, letters, press releases, public handouts, action alerts, and other communications.
- Assisting with special events and tabling opportunities.
- Monitoring current animal issues in local media
- Responding to advocacy and public affairs inquiries by phone and/ or e-mail.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must be interested in animal welfare issues and be able to work effectively with others.
- Must be comfortable dealing with the public, in person, over the phone, or through email.
- Requires an assertive individual who is a quick learner and who can work with minimal supervision.
- Writing, research and computer skills are a must.
- This is a 10-20 hour a week unpaid internship for educational credit (optional) for a minimum of 3 months.
