Mallard

November 17, 2019

The patient of the week is a male Mallard that was found injured at a park in Bellevue. Once examined at PAWS, our wildlife rehabilitators found it had multiple fractures, two in his right leg and one near the right wrist. Our vet team worked with the bird, wrapping its wing and placing pins into the fractured leg and wrist to stabilize the bones. After a month, the pins were removed and he was able to walk again! Since then, he has started to show some flight ability and we are optimistic about his full return to function.
