Male Ring-necked Duck

This Patient of the Week is one of our first patients of 2020. This male Ring-necked Duck was found unable to fly on New Year’s Eve with a severe head tilt, a neurologic condition sometimes caused by head trauma. By the time he reached our center, his head tilt had nearly resolved. We are now working to fully restore his waterproofing to prepare him for release! The ‘ring neck’ on this diving duck is very hard to see from afar, but the white ring on their bill makes them stand out in local ponds.
