Western Screech-Owl
May 6, 2020
Last week, we admitted a Western Screech-Owl in critical condition after presumably being hit by a vehicle. Our veterinary team provided him fluids through an intraosseous catheter, injecting fluids directly into the bone marrow, as his veins were too comprised. We found he also had an ulna fracture during his exam. After several days of supportive fluids and medication, he has improved significantly and is now self-feeding. While he is still healing from his broken wing, we are hopeful for his eventual release back to the wild.
