Young American Crow

June 17, 2020

This young American Crow arrived with a significant 180-degree head tilt. This condition, known as torticollis, can be caused by muscle or nervous system trauma. The trauma causes the muscles in the neck to contract, forcing the head to twist. He received muscle relaxants and physical therapy sessions to correct his positioning. During this time, he wore a neck brace that promoted normal head placement. Recently the brace was removed, and he improved enough that he would be hard to pick out from the other crows in our care! When he is old enough to fend for himself, he will return to the wild.
