Orphaned Baby Glaucous-winged Gulls

These Glaucous-winged Gulls lost their home when a building was demolished. 50 young gulls were found in the wreckage and sent to Whatcom Humane Society. In early July, ten were transferred to us so we could help reduce the burden for our colleagues. When they first arrived, they were often spotted resting together as seen in the photograph. They are currently growing stronger and some are starting to even fly!
