Western Screech-Owl Release

We recently released two Western Screech-owls. The fledgling fell from his nest prematurely and the adult was found on a porch in Burien with multiple soft tissue injuries. Once both recovered and passed all their release assessment tests, they returned to the wild. The adult owl was released first and started vocalizing from somewhere in the forest shortly after. The young owl flew away a few minutes later towards the adult and perched in a nearby tree. Watch the actual release video on Facebook or Instagram.
