Bobcat Hit By Car

February 17, 2021

This Bobcat was presumably struck by a vehicle in Eastern Washington. She was rescued by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Officers and Biologists and brought in for treatment.

The veterinary team discovered a fractured pubic bone (part of the pelvis), hemorrhage in the left eye, and an unusually dilated pupil in the right eye that still requires further examination to determine the underlying cause. You can see the eye abnormalities from the photograph of her eye exam. The most concerning issue she faces at this point is trauma to her chest that is causing compression of her lung. She has received pain medication, anti-inflammatories, and is currently housed in a modified oxygen enclosure. The good news is she has a strong appetite!
