Fostered Merlin Update
February 16, 2022
We recently heard of an exciting report from last summer. The female merlin that we fostered to a merlin family in North Seattle was spotted 27 days after her release. She had dispersed to a green space about 1.4 miles from her release site. We had an earlier report of a banded merlin hunting dragonflies in this same location and thought it could have been her. With this positive ID from a few days prior, we think it is safe to assume she was the one in the photo from the earlier report. We are overjoyed that her foster family took such good care of her and that she learned to hunt for herself!
