Great Horned Owl From Central WA
August 2, 2023
The PAWS team just released an adult great-horned owl that had been in care since early February. Two Seattle residents found the injured owl on the highway while vacationing in north-central Washington and brought it to PAWS Wildlife Center for treatment.
The owl’s broken right wing had to be surgically repaired, but it was eventually able to fly again after four months of careful rehabilitation provided by the PAWS wildlife staff. When the owl was deemed healthy enough to return to the wild, the nocturnal release event was attended by the owl’s rescuers, a journalist from The Wenatchee World, and a local representative from the Office of Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08).
