Become a Foster Family

Hours & Locations

If you are interested in becoming a foster parent with PAWS, please follow these steps:

  • Be of age. The primary caregiver of the foster animal must be at least 18 years old. However, young people can help at home and potentially receive school credit. Inquire more about school credit by emailing the foster team at [email protected].
  • Be in the area. Foster parents must be able to get to our shelter in Lynnwood, Washington on a regular basis. Please consider the potential commute before applying to foster.
  • Download the Foster Parent Manual. This manual is the perfect starting point for your foster care journey! It’s filled with tips, tricks, and insider knowledge to help you give your furry friend the best possible care. It’s like having a personal trainer for your new foster pet, guiding you through everything from feeding and playtime to medical insight and more. So, crack open this manual and begin your foster care adventure!

  • Take the Foster Class. You will learn about program expectations, basic medical information, and have all your questions answered! Start by taking the foster class, complete the accompanying quiz, and provide us with your information.

  • Fill Out Foster Paperwork. After you pass the quiz and your results have been processed, you will receive an email to sign documents and provide us with your housing information.

If you have any questions about the process or signing up, please give us a call at 425-742-4009 or email [email protected].

Please Note: We require that the primary caregiver, and therefore primary contact person, for the foster family be the one to complete the training. This person will need to provide an email address and phone number that is checked on a regular basis in order to fulfill communication requirements for fostering.

Please note that PAWS cannot accommodate those seeking to fulfill court-ordered community service.
