Cat City Support Volunteer – Teen

Description: Cat Care Support volunteers assist staff and adult volunteers provide enrichment for the cats during their stay at PAWS Cat City and perform general facility care tasks, along with misc. other duties that may be assigned. Enrichment can include treats, catnip, play and reading to the cats. Facility care involves various cleaning tasks such as laundry, dishes, sweeping, organizing supplies.
Duties: Specific duties vary depending on the day and time of the shift and may include any or all of the following.
- Under supervision, provide meals, enrichment, socialization, and comfort to the cats.
- Refresh/refill water bowls
- Full and spot cleaning cages, colony and visit rooms.
- Resetting cages, colony and visit rooms with clean bedding, litter box and toys.
- Other cleaning tasks related to daily care including dishes, laundry, sweeping/mopping floors.
- Cleaning carriers and crates.
- Other tasks as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- Must have reliable transportation to Cat City
- Must have an active email address.
- Must have parent or guardian approval
- Must complete New Volunteer Orientation, CAS Info Session and skills training.
- Must pass a background check
Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to work cooperatively with staff, volunteers, and interns.
- Comfortable with an ever-changing, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to bend and kneel.
- Tolerate exposure to various cleaning agents
- Capable of working independently under limited supervision, after fully trained.
- Comfortable approaching staff with questions and asking for direction when needed.

- Online Cat Skills training
- In-person skills training

Age Requirement: 16+
Shifts & Hours: One 2-hour shift per week (shifts available Sunday – Saturday).
We ask for volunteers to commit to one weekly assigned shift for a minimum of three months.
