Wildlife Task Support

Duties: Wildlife Care Assistants and Bird Nursery Caretakers, along with staff and interns, are primarily focused on the direct tasks related to animal care. There are other support tasks that indirectly affect animal care, that may be secondary to the hands-on care provided on each shift. It is still vitally important that these tasks are fulfilled, however. Wildlife Task Support volunteers ensure all tasks are caught up on each shift.
- Cleaning dirty dishes in the kitchen as needed
- Catching up on laundry as needed
- Sweeping and mopping approved areas
- Disinfecting doorknobs/light switches
- Cleaning staff and volunteer common areas
- Collecting trash and recycling and disposing of it in approved areas
- Changing footbaths
- Other support tasks as needed
Qualifications:
- Attendance at a New Volunteer Orientation, Wildlife Info Session, and all relevant training.
- Must be able to work cooperatively with staff, volunteers, and interns .
- A superior attention to detail.
- Comfortable with quickly picking up new skills and working in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment.
- Capable of working under limited supervision, after fully trained.
- Comfortable approaching staff with questions and asking for direction when needed.
- Shows good judgement.
- Ability to tolerate working in all weather conditions (position includes outdoor, highly physical work).
